We have a winner. They are wick picks. Some oil lamps didn't have a mechanism to raise/lower the wick. Instead, there were slots in the side of the metal piece that held the wick. The wick pick was passed through the slots and wick allowing the wick to be raised/lowered.Wick pokers.
