Yes, that's a much better pic. As I have been told on pen turning forums, if you're going to show a pen, and want critique, praise or what-not you need to show the pen so folks can see it. Great picture, you should shoot them all individually like that so they can be appreciated.
I've turned Lacewood (a real PITA) and it doesn't look much different than that, I am sure that was pretty easy to turn.

Quite a productive day! I believe Eagle also suggested not only photographing each pen indificually, but not to include anything else in the photo so the focus is solely on the pen.
