Anybody ever use Morado (Bolivian Rosewood)? How does it take glue and how well does it work and finish ? I've been looking at some for a sofa table top that on my list of stuff to do for SWMBO.

I turned a pen out of it and it finished great. That stuff is hard as a rock. Use care as I understand it is high on the list of woods that people react to.

I have used this wood. It is very hard and dulls a sharp edge fast! I also had a REALLY bad reaction to the dust form turning it! :swoon: I was on steroids for almost 2 weeks! :tongue2: YMMV, but be careful! Make sure you have good ventilation and wear a mask! I have turned and routed this wood. The bit I used is in dire need of sharpening now.

Hi Larry
I've used Morado in some of intarsia pieces and like Scott says it is hard .
It does work nicely with sharp tools and finishes beautifully and is one of the cheaper of the rosewoods. If you like a challenge give it a try.

Alex got it from me when I got rid of every spec I could. I had to ask Travius to empty my dust collector because I could not go near it!

Doug, do you have your safety glasses on while reading this? I have seen how this affects you. I would be wary of even reading a post about this wood.

So far. I am being real careful around Rosewood as I am worried that it might be the entire family that causes me to break out.
