Hi all,

Wanted to let everyone here know that we will having the 18th or so annual M-WTCA Area Q meeting here in Raleigh on Saturday, July 28. It is open to all who share an interest in antique/traditional tools and generally "old stuff." While most of what you will find at the meeting will be hand tools like planes, levels, saws, etc., and wood working oriented, there are some metal working tools as well as old powered machinery ranging from power tools to foot powered machinery. (When you get 75 or more people together selling, you get a lot of tools and related.)

The meeting is officially a Saturday event but if you come into town on Friday, you can drop by after 12 noon. On Saturday, there will be tool buying and selling, displays, a program of interest by the guys at Old Salem, an auction of tools and a good old NC pork BBQ & fried chicken lunch. We also have coffee, soft drinks, do-nuts and a lot of good fellowship and talking between those of us who enjoy old tools and machinery.

In 2006, there were over 275 people from all over attending.

Pre-registration is required.

This is a great opportunity to meet people who share an interest in antique/traditional tools, to learn and to purchase tools at a good price.

If you want more info on the meeting or M-WTCA, please contact me at hobbsed@portbridge.com. You can also visit the national M-WTCA website at www.mwtca.org for more info in general about the organization and the benefits of belonging

Thanks Ed

I'll be there as usual and wouldn't miss the meeting at Ed's. This is always a great meetings and not to be missed. It's a lot of fun, lots of tools, lots of people and a lot to learn. This meeting is almost as big as an MWTCA national meeting, but perhaps more fun. I think the NCWW members who came last year had a good time and got some nice tools at a good deal. I hope we will have a good NCWW presence this year too, and I hope to see a lot of you there this year. MWTCA is much more than just collecting tools. Studying old woodworking tools and the old ways has improved my woodworking skills dramatically. So if you want to improve your talents and learn new woodworking skills, you'll enjoy MWTCA.

We will probably go down on Friday. Not trying to sound like a mercenary, but I'll probably take a small card table size setup to sell and trade like I did last year. So if anyone has any requests or is looking for anything specific, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can round up by then.
Thanks A Lot:icon_thum

I'm going to be there, too! We are returning from a month in NY (Finger Lakes area) and will be staying with my daughter in Apex. Looking forward to it!

I attended last year and was hooked up with a very nice "user" #5 from Ozzie, it's still my favorite plane, almost perfect right off his table. I would also recommend your attendance if you have any interest in handtools, old machinery, or just old stuff in general. I too look forward to seeing a bunch of y'all there, seeing as it is just down the road from me.

Hey Ozzie, I am still looking for a reasonably (cheap) priced #93. The #78 I got last year has worked for my needs but it isn't doing exactly what it is designed for.

Dave:)
