Can/should micromesh be washed to increase longevity?

You can wash it. I always wet sand with it and then clean it off with a towel after use to keep it from getting clogged up. Usually a pen set of micromesh will last about 50 pens for me. After that I usually have to replace some of the higher grits.

You even wet sand a CA finish on a wood pen? How much water... couple drops? or soak the mesh?

I wet sand with the mesh with a solution of water with a very small amount of dish soap. Wash the mesh out afterwards for longer life - great stuff for rubbing out a poly finish.

I use an old spray bottle with a teaspoon of soap per bottle. I just spray the mesh and wipe it off when I'm done with the grit. If you don't let it cake up micro mesh lasts a very long time. I wet sand epecially on a CA finished pen.
