Instead of continuing the hijacking of Nick's thread...

Who's up for meeting for a pint at the Hibernian in Cary?
I'll throw out tomorrow evening - 6ish?
For those not familiar with the Hibernian, there good Guinness, authentic Irish bartenders and great food. Who could ask for more?

Hmmmm. 230 miles each way for a few Murphy's Irish Stout Ales -- now that's a fine brew -- nah, we've got dinner reservations to drink some nice wine instead!

We should get together for a pint or two one night, Sapwood would certainly come along, he's never turned one down:lol::drunken_s
Meeting for a pint of Cary in Hibernian, eh :drunken_s:drunken_s . . . uh I mean ;-)

Well the beer selection is admirable: Guiness or Bass or both (black and tan), but let's not forget Harp :icon_thum

But Alas and Alack, I'm previously committed  to beer and volleyball on Wednesdays :crybaby2:
So hoist a couple for me :eek:ccasion1 and plan the next one for Mon., Tues., or Thurs. . . . Friday is "Boys Nite Out" :eusa_danc

Actually, I believe you're speaking of the Hibernian. There's one in Cary that's realatively new and one on Glenwood downtown. It's the only place that I know of that has bangers and mashed and shepards pie.

I lived in England for 8 years early on in my AF career, plus me Mum is English, yes some of the food is bland/tasteless, but good fish and chips or bangers are so worth the hassle:eusa_danc

Well, I cannot go. I have to go out tomorrow night for work and SWMBO will not permit it. Oh well. Drink a black and tan for me.

Sapwood, I am not a fan of a half and half. Will drink either by themselves, but harps and guiness, YUCK!!!

"Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood" (turn on sound and add British beat:lol:)

As I understand it, Black n' Tan is Guiness and a lighter beer (most notably Bass Ale). Agree that Harp and Guiness don't mix :icon_thum Of course, my experience is limited to in front of or under the bar, not behind it

OK, here's how I understand it:

Black and Tan - Guinness and Bass
Half and Half - Guinness and Harp
Black Moon - Guinness and Blue Moon
Black Smith - Guinness and Smithwick's
Black Castle - Guinness and Newcastle
Black & Gold - Guinness and Kinsale Lager
Black Velvet - Guinness and Champagne
Black Veveteen (or a Poor Man's Black Velvet)- Guinness and Hard Cider
