Well, it finally happened. I attended the pen turning class this week! Had a blast! Robin did a fine job with his instruction. There were two other newbies beside myself.

I now have entered the Dark side, no turning back. (Ha!) I can understand about this thing becoming addictive. My wife already says I'm OCC, I think she's cringing at the thought of me turning hundreds of pens into the wee hours of the morning. Mad scientist!!.

Kidding aside, I had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting Robin. My first pen was good, for me, I thought. It is a slimline turned from tulip wood. I showed it to several of my friends and they couldn't believe I had made it. I've got orders for three pens already. Ah, life is good!

Now, to clean out my garage, buy my lathe, work table, accessories, kits, blanks, ...:widea:

Good to hear your first pen turned out well. Of course, no pics, didn't happen, etc. So stop reorganizing the garage for a minute and indulge us

Those darksiders are sneaky - one of them left a turning catalog in Travis's truck today. BUT strong is Travis, he opened the catalog flipped a couple of pages and said very confidently I don't turn, tossed the catalog down and walked away - he's an inspiration to us all.
