Makita 2708 Thoughts

Hey all,

Always looking for items on craigslist and stumbled by the Makita 2708. Did some research and there was already a thread on it about 10 years ago and wanted to see if anyone had updated opinions about the saw and if its worth the effort to reach out with an offer.

Does anyone know anything about this saw? I have been offered a Makita 2708 for $150 but will have to drive 100+ miles to just get a look at it.

I've had two of these and one of the sliding table versions. I would never pay that much for one. I think the last one I had was $40.

The fences are really awful. It's essentially a Makita skilsaw turned upside down. Lots of blade wobble when they get worn out.

For that money, you could get a DeWalt with a rack and pinion fence. Granted, those are pretty awful too, but at least the fence is nice.

The Makita does seem to be an extremely long lived saw and is probably the lightest table saw I've ever had.
