Today was a big day for me, I turned my very first bowl. Now that I have an idea of how it works, I might try something smaller, maybe with a lid.

I also think a ring bowl is in the works... One of those niffty things with a finger like spike in the middle of the bowl to be used for rings.

Here it is:

So.. what do you think?

Great bowl Collin! It's more difficult to turn the smaller stuff. You did very well! :icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum

Thanks Bob... I only had a small piece of wood, and did want to have to spend a lot of time on it. I did this one this afternoon, it took about 2 hours. =)

Actually, I'd like to try my hand at a larger bowl... But my Dad said to do a simple one before the one I want to do.

Nice Bowl Colin for sure.
Man that sure is small, and delicate, good job.

Wish the picture would enlarge when I click on it.

Nice work, Collin! :icon_thum:icon_thum

You've got the "darkside" touch for sure.:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Now, if we can just channel some of that talent back over to the "flatside" there's no telling what you can accomplish!!

Nice bowl there, Collin!:wsmile::wsmile:

Very delicate looking, with all of the right proportions.

Ring boxes, I am sure would be hit at Christmas time.

Well Done.:eusa_danc:eusa_danc

Thanks guys,
I plan on starting a ring bowl today, might have a "in progress" pic tonight (although it might might be a "here are the different pieces of wood glued together which will soon be turned" pic).:eusa_thin

As for the pictures, in an attempt to keep them from being too big in the post, I must have messed up the enlargement deal.. I'll get them in my photo gallery, and then you can see them as close up as you would ever want too!

Haha, I've tried my hand at flatwork, it mostly comes out as "crapwork". :rotflm:

He'd have to grin pretty big to swallow his ears...

I think next up is a more flat, shallow bowl. not more then 6" across. Might even try some fancy laminating before I turn it, and see what happens. This one might take a while. =)

That ring keeper is just so cool, Collin!:cool::cool::icon_thum

You are sure jumping in with both feet when you talk about laminating!!

Good luck and I look forward to seeing the results.

Nice work!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

:eusa_clap Nicely done, Colin. You have a delicate touch, for your first bowl to be that size. :icon_thum
