Rory,
Hope everything turns around for you with the new one. FWIW, I have a very early Industrial SS model and have been totally satisfied with its performance. I have never regretted making the purchase.

Thank you Bob.

I'm wondering if their industrial models were the better choice. Regardless, I'd like to think this replacement will be flawless, but in the back of my mind, I'll always be thinking my saw will break... again. I'm left a little soured after this experience, hence the big indecisiveness as to what to do.

Thanks again... Rory

Just about done...

Last thing I need to do is... (Easily) pull the saw off of the mobile base and then slap it onto a pallet.

SS never mentioned a pallet, or if I should ratchet strap it..but I'd say that's the correct thing to do here, regardless of my 1st experience.

I'm going to "miss" this saw, especially since we've had so many experiences together.

Looking forward to the arrival of the replacement. Seriously looking to start making some sawdust!

So long #1.. we will ALL miss you.

Rory

New saw was delivered, yesterday, and now the new main motor is on the ICS base. Hopefully, this weekend, I'll be able to assemble the saw (rails, fence, wings, etc.).

Emailed SS and asked for verification, as to what they wanted back, and they only wanted the main motor/cabinet. *Interesting*

The saw they sent out has 2 new cast iron wings, so I get to keep my original cast iron wings and these 2 new wings. Win Win!

$150 each and I would imagine tax, too.

Not sure if I should keep all 4, or sell the 2 slightly used wings.

Any thoughts as to what I should do with the 2 used wings? Keep them as a backup?

Thanks in advance..... Rory

As long as saw is stationary, legs work wonderfully. Extra wing equals a router table with the fence etc I trust your wiring has been done

Reviving an "old" post

It has been slightly over 1 month, since I received my replacement SawStop. Since I had the bad taste in my mouth, from the previous saw, I had little desire to get back in the garage and assemble the replacement.

Well, 1 month and 3 days later, it's pretty much assembled. The only thing left to slap on is the (small) over head dust arm. Before I do that, I'll have to.....loosen the bolts that hold the main table in place *Sigh* so I can adjust the table due to misalignment from the factory.

As you can see from the pictures, it's off in the back of the blade (cheapo "Made in China"). I can fit a 0.003 feeler gauge between the blade & PEC double square.

Am I being to anal about the blade/table alignment?

Other than that, with much hesitation, I started the saw .. Finally!! "Music" to my ears.

Can't wait to finish the rest of the garage, so I can get to work! Lights, partition, dust collection, etc..

Good lord, no! Since my previous SS blew a brake, before it spun the blade more than an 1/8 of a turn, I figured this time I'll put the cheapo Chinese blade in. Just in case this replacement saw blew a brake, on startup, I'd be covered.

I didn't feel comfortable putting in my Ridge, so thankfully SS sent me one of their throw aways.
