Has anyone purchased the Delta vs lathe yet? What are your likes and dislikes about it. I've thought of maybe buying one. What say you?:dontknow:

I bought a 46-460 several months ago and i am extremely happy with it

Pros:
1 hp motor
solid and stable !
reverse
easy belt change
low end speed of 250 for those " thumpers "
quiet and smooth
controls are easy to reach
comes with 6" and 10" tool rests

cons:
The biggest problem I have with this is getting the tool rest to stay in place ( height ) . It has a tendency to slip under heavy pressure which gets a little aggravating at times. This could just as easily be my inexperience as something wrong with the tool

hope this helps

I got two of them last year for the high school shops that I teach at. They are holding up great to date. As Sawduster said the only real problem with them is the tool rest working lose when putting a lot of force on it like roughing out a bowl. I think they are about as good a lathe as one can buy for $600.00. The penn State 12" commander is another option, but I'm not sure if it is ready for sell.
