Laurel Wood Plate

I made this plate just to practice skills. All went well until I took it off the lathe and dropped it and chipped it. I super glued the piece back and resanded - (circled). The other damage (the circular dent on the face.... I just live with. Pretty grain. Happy with the shape and overall design.

Casey, the plate looks beautiful, your turning skills are very well honed. That said, you may need to work on techniques for removing projects from the lathe!;)

That looks like it had some really tricky grain to deal with - well done. But of course that's what gives it so much character.

The other reason made the plate was to work with the new Carter neg rake scraper. This really did help in making the surface smoother... great tool. With a wholly greater price

Looks great, nothing better than transforming a piece of wood into something beautiful.

I think your floor is faulty. I'd get it fixed.
