Large cutting boards

Making some large cutting boards. Laminated heart of pine with walnut inlays and end caps. 2" x 15" x 26". Ready for oil and wax finish.

It actually might be fir. From a old laminated church beam.

How did you attach the breadboard ends?

Just curious: is that edge grain or face grain?

Just Titebond III. It is only 15" wide and should be fine. I have done several with no problems.

Do you have a recipe for your finish or is it some of this and some of that? I'm looking to do some cutting boards in the near future and looking for how to finish them. They do look great.

First 2-3 coats of mineral oil from the drug store then a mixture of bees wax and mineral oil.

All you really need is mineral oil. I usually use Howards butcher block conditioner as a top coat. It is just mineral oil and wax like Jeff is using.

Much of it is quarter sawed.
