Kreg bandsaw fence support

Whilst replacing a dull bandsaw blade today, I remembered that I had briefly mentioned this fence support in another thread.

My HF bandsaw has a 6-3/4” gap between the table and the column. To park the fence, I used to slide it left and tighten the lock knob. That left the fence rail cantilevered in space with a strain on the head. Since I never tilt the table, I added a scrap of wood to support the rail and relieve that strain.

The support is simply a scrap fastened with hot glue.

Serendipity occurred when I realized that with this support I did not need to tighten the lock knob any more after parking the fence.

If it helps, that’s a smart and simple fix. A lot of those smaller bandsaw fences end up hanging out in space when parked, and over time that can’t be great for the rail or mounting points. Nice use of scrap wood to take the stress off the head. Sometimes the easiest shop solutions are the best ones.
