Drove to RTP from Littlelton, NC. In the 1hr and 20 minute ride I got to thinking. In keeping with our Non-profit mission how does some outsider make a request for some education or demonstration opportunity. Also if members want to setup classes or offer their services for edcuation how would we handle the sign-up of them? See what happens when I am away from the shop for to long.

Scott,

Now this is a real coincidence.

I received a call from Joe Scharle today asking if I thought that there would be any interest in him setting up a shop jig building session that he would host. I know that he has posted the offering and starting to get a few interested parties.

Is this kinda what you were thinking about or were you thinking more along the lines of offering's woodworking sessions for folks that do not belong to NCWW'er?

Informal signup via the normal posting facilities should work OK - although Doug has used the term "herding cats" a few times. All that's required is being registered here at the web site.

If this becomes a regular thing, perhaps we should consider some software to assist the signup process for demo's, shop crawls, lumber, chair making, etc. I need to get off my *** anyway and start working on the test site, I'll see if there is anything out there. But, so far, the basic forum features seems to work fine.

The problem with "formalizing" this is that NC WW may look like the entity providing the service/ demo/ offering. It would have to be very clear that NC WW is only facilitating. Unless it's something like the Extravaganza, in which case it really is NC WW.

Wayne this is part of it. Members teaching members is a great start. In time we can look to open it to non members who over time will become members. I was just throwing out if we wanted to create a new main topic or a sub-topic to assist with this.
