I took shop in highschool in the early 80's and never did much about it until I moved into a house with an unfinished basement.

Finally, some space to work in! Things took off from there with small projects here and there; mostly shop improvements but then the occasional piece of furniture would emerge from time to time.

My father was a Navy chaplain who retired to build boats in his shop in VA. He's since retired from that and moved to NC since he's getting on in years.

I must have gotten the woodworking bug from him and now it seems I've infected my brothers with it as well. They now have projects they're working on.

Oh, my day job is teaching Taekwondo and running the business end of it.

Sean welcome to the site. My woodworking "career" started with a suitable shop space. It sounds like you have craftsman in your blood so run with it. We of course need to see pics of your work, so got to Other Links in the upper tool bar and then Request Photo Album, and post some pics of what you've been working on. I look forward to seeing you around!!!

My dad used to have a Kung Fu school in High Point and I used to teach there for him..... I guess maybe the martial arts thing and the wood working thing runs hand and hand..

Welcome to the site. As you are probally already aware, once the WWing bug bites you, you're done for. The only thing you can do is to keep building, buying, building, buying... Hopefully sell something along the way. Be sure you post lots of pictures of what you like to do!

I think there's something about working with your hands as a martial artist and as a craftsman.

I look forward to reading and posting here on NCWW.

My current project is a table saw/router table cabinet on a mobile base using a design similar that available from woodplans.com

I have to figure out how to add a flip-top extension table to the table saw that now has an Incra TS-LS fence I recently added. Not sure how I'm going to work that in.

Hi Sean,

Welcome to NCWW. Good to hear from both of you... wood worker and martial artist. I trained Goju ryu and Kobudo for a while... unfortunately the dojo closed up when the couple teaching got a divorce.

Look forward to hearing about / seeing your projects from the wood shop.
