I am continuing to get snipe from time to time on my 8" Woodtech jointer. Anyone have any experience in the best way to clear this up?

I will hazard the guess that the knives are set above or below the height of the outfeed table. Set a good straight edge on the outfeed table over the cutter head and rotate it (by hand, of course :saw: ) and see if the blades touch. It is possible that the blades are working loose.

Setting the outfeed table on a jointer is simple if you just use a board. Lower the outfeed to where you know it is below the blades, Run a board on edge about 8-10" into it, stop the jointer, raise the outfeed to match the cut on the board and you are all set. Jointer snipe is nearly always caused by lower outfeed table or improper technique. Setting the outfeed table like this will ensure you have that part correct. If you do this and still have snipe then you are probably applying pressure incorrectly to the board as you feed it through.

Good Luck,

John
