Does anyone know where I can buy a universal jointer blade guard. It seems the guy I bought my jointer from thought the blade guard was not needed, and can no longer find it. It is an 8" jointer. Personally, I don't feel to comfortable using it without the guard, even if I am being extra careful.

I can't tell you where to get one, but I would not want to run it without one so I totally share our "discomfort" factor.

Brandon,

Is it the type that is on a rod with a return spring? You could probably find an engineer :slap: that could help you fab one out of a hardwood dowell and a piece of 3/4" ply. McMaster should have the return spring.

What is the mfg of the Jointer? MARTIN machinery can get you a top of line AIGNER guard for any tool, but they are more than most of us pay for the tool! If it's a common import clone, Sunhill, Jet, Bridgewood, Northstate etc you can get parts from one of the better known importers and it should fit with a little redneck engineering. If you post a photo of the jointer I can probably point to you someone who imports a similar machine.

Have you contacted Leneave? They import the northstate line and are located in charlotte just accross the street from the panthers stadium. their number is 704-376-7421. the ones they import are pratically clones of sunhill machinery so if leneave doesn't stock the guard you can contact sunhill. www.sunhillmachinery.com.
