After some trial and error, I have progressed to breaking into my 12/4 cherry and tweaked the set up. I was having a lot of problems with burning at the exit and entry points that was causing me a lot of frustration. With the help of a friend on another forum, I decided to switch to a speed control router and as suggested, approach the entry/exit points from the middle and immediately pull the bit away. I am quite pleased with the result and I think I'm ready to use my premiere wood.
