I've never seen it before, and thought it was pretty cool might have to make one for my nieces and nephews to try to figure out.

Our own Roy Underhill has demonstrated this on his show. Just to get y'all thinking, ever wonder how they get a wooden arrow through holes drilled in a pop bottle ? :wwink:

I did the wooden arrow thru the wine glass trick probably 30+ years ago. Same idea as the nail trick.

Carve most of the arrow (except for one end). Compress the wood and slam it through the holes in the glass. Expand wood and finish carving the last end. Shaft of the arrow was about 3/8" diameter to give you an idea of the overall size.

Hardest part was drilling the holes in the glass. I used a piece of brass tubing and valve grinding compound.

It (the nail trick) was one of the projects we did at the one piece workshop I went to at the Woodwright's School. He showed us an arrow through the bottle also but we didn't do that.
