Hi all,
Well..we have finally moved into the new house. My shop is still in boxes...but at least the boxes are in the shop.

So I started a project today that I have been meaning to get to for a while now.
It am restoring an antique, claw foot, kitchen table.

The finish is pretty rough but I am restoring...not stripping and finishing.

That brings me to a question. I am using some mineral spirits that I had laying around for the last 2-3 years to clan the surface.
And this stuff is doing little more on the finish than I would expect from a can of Pledge.
Can this stuff expire?

I also have a 2nd question too.
One of the legs is off..I mean..for whatever reason, it sits at an angle. Each leg is attached to the center column by 2 bolts. For whatever reason, the original maker drilled one of the holes in the leg that the bolt screws into off. It was never redrilled and it does not appear to have been done to adjust for something else being off. The bolts are hidden and any fix would be also.
I am debating if I should let it remain the way it was built or if I should correct this.
What is the etiquette for antiques with this?
