I was cutting a slotted ornament and forgot that the slot on the pattern was too wide for the thickness of wood I was using. Just out of curiosity I thought I'd see if I could split the remaining slot (about 1/4") into a smaller piece to glue into the ornament. Please forgive the quality of this picture, but it was with my cell phone. Also the split pieces are from the mahogany ornament and shown with the walnut slot. and the cuts aren't very straight -I just though it was hoot that I could easily cut that litttle piece into three even smaller pieces.

I'm guessing that I didn't upload the picture correctly, Thanks for getting it corrected.

Isn't amazing how with a little bit of care the scale we can work on?
I enjoy working with pieces most consider too small for kindling.
Any tips on making straight cuts with a scroll saw would be appreciated.

Nice save Cathy ! :eusa_clap One of the beauties of the scrollsaw is just how darn intricate we can get when we have to :-D ....good job :icon_thum

Eagle,
One of the first tricks for me is to sit slightly to the right of the front of my saw. This helps compensate for the blade's natural tendency to pull to the right . Precision-ground blades do not have this bias, but I do not use them.
Steady, smooth feed-pressure makes a difference as well. Once I'm on the line I just keep gettin' it without slowing or stopping ....takes practice :BangHead:
Hope this helps
