... into my new shop. Reference earlier thread. >> http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/f81/dream-shop-reality-update-12-07-08-a-17456/

We began construction 9/29/08 and LOML and I moved my tools in about a two weeks ago and began hooking up the dust collecting system to them. I've never had such good dust collection. Lots of suction. :eusa_danc

I still have to make some storage cabinets and doors for the sink base and wall cabinet over the sink and build the air cleaner I plan to build from an old squirrel cage blower.

It sure seems good to be able to move around without stepping over things and moving tools to use another one. And I can swing a piece of wood over my head without the danger of knocking out my lights. :icon_cheers

Going around the shop looking in from the entry door:

Joiner, some jigs, Drill Press, Band Saw and Router Table. The hand saw over the double doors was my Father's. The doors lead into the other half of the building.

This room has a large garage door so I can back my truck into the building to unload wood if needed. It will be used for some assembly and storage of my farm tractor, lawn mower, bicycle, etc.

The red oak I used to make the door and window casing/trim came from Ivey's Sawmill. Thanks to Alan in Little Washington for the assistance with the layout of the dust collection piping and ideas on the vertical wood storage. And to my wife for the assistance in getting all my tools, wood, etc. moved into the building and helping with the connections with the dust collection.

Really nice Dolan! I like the brightness, the laminate floor and the terrific ceiling height. You certainly have great room around your machines. If I had that much room I wouldn't have sold half the stuff I have sold in the last year. I'd still have room for it and the new stuff. Enjoy!

BTW JimmyC has a urinal in his "necesary room."

Very, very nice, Dolan!!!:wsmile:

If I had a hideaway like that, I doubt that the LOML would see me a whole lot!!!:gar-La;:gar-La;

Sounds like you are about to put some sawdust on the floor and make some noise. (If I recall. You have put that all together in roughly six months.:banana::banana:

Congrats,

Wayne

Gorgeous! I'm sold on the laminate/ wood flooring thing. Your projects automatically improve by 25% just because it gives it that artisan feel.

Too bad you're slightly out of the way for a shop crawl....

I have been waiting for this post. It is worth the wait! It looks fantastic. All along I have been saying I was going to expoxy my shop floor, now I might look into laminate flooring. Way to go Dolan!!:thumbs_up

WOW!!!! This must be Duplin County's answer to the Taj Mahal. That is an impressive set-up. What are the dimensions and is it all open space (with the exception of the necessary room)? I know the commandment about "Thou shalt not covet" but........

:swoon::swoon: Holy cow, Dolan! Do you have to drop bread crumbs so you can find your way out of that shop? It's HUGE...

I am envious. My little one car garage seems even smaller and more crowded now. Nice work on this.

Wow! Dolan, that is about as nice as it gets! The flooring really sets off the shop; but the overall design and construction is superb.

Truly impressive, Dolan!
I know you spent a lot of time, planning, and $$$$$ :mrgreen:
And as always, everything is well organized and immaculate :icon_thum

Folks, I've seen Dolan's old shop and it's no slouch :no6xn:
Of course, your wife willingly helped move the tools . . . she gets the old shop, right :wink_smil

Dang, son! That ain't a shop, it's a museum!:gar-La; Git some sawdust & stray nails & wood blocks on that floor. You're an embarrassment to the site!:gar-La;
But seriously folks, it looks like a shop I hope you will enjoy for many years to come. Congratulations. :icon_thum:icon_thum

Dolan, that is one of the nicest looking shops I've ever seen. :eek: I'm really happy for you all. Please post some pics of it in a month or two when there is sawdust everywhere. Maybe cut the dust collection off. :eusa_thin:rotflm:

Cheers, :eek:ccasion1
