Hey folks
I am Mac, currently in Fayetteville, NC.
I am a woodworker, well I try anyways, lol

Man I am glad to find this place, not too many folks locally around here that I have found that i can talk shop with.

I custom build cabinets, outdoor furniture, entertainment centers, etc.

Kind of self taught, but I guess that I do Ok cause folks keep coming back.

Looking forward to becoming part of the community:icon_thum

I see that you are in Hopemills, right down the road from me.
I'm in eastover.
Retired military, now I just do woodworking.

Awaiting delivery of my new saw, can't wait.

Thanks for the welcome.

What are you getting?

and there are a couple members out your way, or just a little further, maybe we are getting enough to do a lunctime get-together sometime. Many of the local members, as you may imagine, are vets, and some still serving, some even participating here while 'downrange'.

I finally had to upgrade so I made a big jump from a BT3000, and found this on sale.

Delta Industrial 36-731 3 HP Cabinet Saw with 50" Unifence System

I got to run another 220 line, which is no problem, I just need to know the size of the wire I need, for that motor. I reckon it would be a 30 Amp breaker, that I would need but i'm guessing, till it gets here today or tomorrow.

I also will have to build a table around this monster as the BT3000 I had, had an outfeed and large righthand extension wing that I will be missing.
Anyideas? or see plans around?

Welcome, and you will find that one of the 'mantras' around these parts is

"No Pictures, Didn't happen"

Got to have pics of your new saw or you never got it, plus pics of shop and projects.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Mac!
I did a bunch of research when I installed the circuit for my saw (5hp uni) and ended up running a 30A circuit with 10ga. IIRC, the 3hp draws like 15.5A compared to 20.4A for the 5hp. Since 12ga is only rated for 20A, I think you're right in going 30A/10ga.
As far as an outfeed table, I just posted pics of mine yesterday.
Good luck and I'll see you around!

Welcome to the site, John. I'm a retiree as well and sounds like we've got similar interests in doing some commission work. Nice way to fund buying a few needed tools, isn't it. As others have mentioned, set up a Photo Gallery (check out the FAQs Forum for how-to's) and upload some pictures. I'm the site Libraries Admin and encourage you to check out both the Link Library for information on other sites and our Downloads Library for useful plans and other information.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the sawdust!

Retired in 97, done a bunch of different stuff,
Now the body hurts, so I really pick and choose what jobs I take on.
Didn't think all those jumps would have affected me like this, but hey it was fun.
