I am building a large garage cabinet. About 6” high and 34” wide. The shell is simple 2x4 studs and will have shelves that are going to be set and not adjustable. The question is going to be with the doors. Should I frame them with 2x4 and then use normal door hinges? I was thinking of cutting down the 2x4 to be more like 1x2 and if I did this could I use hidden hinges like the blum flush. Just didn’t know for strength if two on each door or if there is a better set of hinges for the doors.

Eric, that door is going to be almost as big as a regular door. i would go with door hinges. You could also put some sort of shelves or baskets on the inside of the door for smaller things like boxes of screws, etc.

I would frame out a piece of plywood with 2x4 (you could plane it down to 1 1/4" to make it more attractive) and use 3 standard door hinges as Roy suggests.
