So, I have a “scorching” problem—and I don’t mean our hot weather. My wife has some pine craft items that she’d like me to scorch. Years ago, I did these many times without any trouble. Last week, I pulled out my better trigger-controlled propane torch head, which I hadn’t used in more than 20 years. When I tilted it slightly, the flame went out. I knew that wasn’t normal because, back in the day, I soldered plenty of copper pipe at all angles without issue. So, I bought a simple torch head instead of replacing one like I already own, especially since I may not use it again for another 20 years.
So, what am I doing wrong? I tried my heat gun with poor results, and I don’t have any “scorching gel” and never used it before. I would like to get this project done ASAP.
Any advice?
