Got this today at a new sawyer, he says maple. I would like a consensus if you have time. I am not from nc and have not seen local maple before, but in the Midwest it wasn't this red. Thanks

That just means that you don’t want the center stuff. How dry is this? When was it cut? Was it in a kiln? Dry, it might be useful to someone who does scrollsaw work, just sayin’Chris I'm not sure how to remove the pith.
The pith is the center section of your lumber thats splitting. The very center of the tree. Most sawyers would cut it out or it can end up as dunnage or similar.Chris I'm not sure how to remove the pith.
