Hey everyone, My name is Scot Kimel. I am currently a Deputy Sheriff in Davie County N.C. I am also a scrimshaw artist. I have always had an interest in wood working, however, measurements and I do not get along, so my woodworking abilities are severely limited!!! :BangHead: . I do like to whittle/ carve and am learning pyrography, but my number one passion is scrimshaw. Not alot of people know what that is, so, in a nutshell it is; scribing images into ivory, bone, antler or any other like surface and rubbing with ink. Kind of like a tattoo. I am fairly new, I have only been doing it since February of this year, but my business is doing well, It keeps me very busy, if I am not at work, I am sitting at my desk, scribing. Welcome Scrimshaw! That's quite a talent you have there. Some of my knives have scrimshaw handles, but I don't think any of them look that nice. Keep up the great work.

good looking stuff Scot! I was familiar with this art style, as I have family in a former shipbuilding community in CT. You could find examples in gift shops all over.
