Hello,

I've browsed this site for a week or so now and really enjoyed the forums. I was raised in Burlington and will eventually move back to some part of NC but I'm currently living in KY. I got interested in woodworking from high school carpentry class and have dabbled in it ever since. I look forward to improving my skills at woodworking and sharing experiences through this site.

Welcome aboard Paul. You'll find many opportunities to probe the collective wealth of this community and, at the same time, share your experiences as well.

If you want to see a lot of new shiny tools, might I suggest you search the forums for "You Suck".

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the site. You'll love this place. You said in your first post that you dabble... what areas? What kind of woodworking do you like to do?

Hey Paul. How's it going? Funny meeting you here......but I am glad you found us here at NCWW. I hope your not planning on retiring yet because you still have a lot to offer. You will find this to be a great site for sharing information with a lot friendly folks.

For the other members, I have known Paul for the last ten years now and had the opportunity to serve with him when I was stationed over in KY. Paul is a great American and I look forward to reading his input and seeing some of his work.

Thanks for the hearty welcome and a special thanks to DL for his kind words. I started learning carpentry, electrical, plumping, and landscaping either through classes or from books so I can my own repairs around the house and it's come in handy with helping out my friends too. The end goal in those areas is not just to keep up my house but to have a part in designing and building my retirement house. Over the last 3 years I've gone more into furniture building. Learning how to make mortise and tenon joints, dovetails, and miters has been right fun and frustrating. A few of the items I've built are a blanket chest, a cedar plant shelf, an art easel, and a small table. I'm currently making a shelf to hold my son's Karate Gui, belts, and trophies. I'll be gluing that one up today. My next projects will be a flag case, more trophy shelves, and a Morris chair for me to relax in (at least when I find to time to).
