Choosing Tool Has anyone gone from Dovetail to Parallelogram Jointer?

Just wondering if there is a significant difference between a jointer with parallelogram bed versus dovetail. The parallelogram type is supposed to keep the opening around the blade closer as the blade is raised and lowered. Seems like having a spiral (or helical) head is more of a difference maker, but let me know your thoughts.

I have an 8" parallelogram jointer and have no regrets. I started out with a benchtop dovetail jointer but it has been so long ago that I can't even remember. Definitely without a doubt get the spiral head.

Why spiral vs helical

I was using the term spiral and helical interchangeably. There is a difference but I can't remember what I have in my jointer. My meaning was to get either spiral or helical and not knife blades.

The inserts in spiral heads are installed along the axis of the cutter head, acting like several miniature straight knives, and the inserts in helical heads are installed at an angle offset from the axis of the cutter head, providing a shearing cut.
