Retired to my mountain home-place in 2020 and began converting the garage into a multi-purpose "man cave" that includes a one-car bay for a woodshop. Inspired by Roy Underhill and The Woodwright's Shop, I began my "woods work" by felling trees and making firewood. I progressed in a zig-zag fashion from green woodworking with adze and froe to power tools. Grandchildren came along and (thanks to David Wakefield and his book Animated Animal Toys in Wood: 20 Projects That Walk, Wobble and Roll) I completed a half dozen toys for them for Christmas a few years back. Now I'm looking to build a Moravian Workbench following Will Myers and developing new skills in hand tools and joinery. I could use a mentor to guide my apprenticeship...
