Well y'all saw what was my next project in an earlier thread
http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2392
I haven't gotten as far as I would like, but due to several requests for WIP pics here they are
Starting with rough air dried QSWO
I rough cut to a manageable length and width for my jointer
The jointed one face, planed the other side and reduced the thickness to 3/4" (some to 1/2" :BangHead: due to bad twist or cupping), and then edge jointed to 4-square. Then I glued up the best looking boards to form the top.
I also took some of the more riff sawn boards and glued them up to be my leg stock. While jointing those glue-ups square I noticed my DC wasn't working right..
Lesson learned! after a couple planing sessions with Arcrist, empty the DC before running another 35 BF through the planer. I filled the chip separator, lower dust bag and started filling up the top :BangHead: :BangHead:
What a PITA to clean out
After cleaning that mess up, and letting the top glue up dry. I made the bread board ends. I ended up using my router and straight edge to form the tenons, and dado set for the groove. The were attached using Walnut dowel in elongated holes except in the center.
I also router out recesses in the table to match the groove in the BB end and installed Walnut splines, glued only into the table field so they could move in and out of the BB end groove as the wood moves.
The dowels will be cut and sanded flush, and the splines will be left proud and rounded to hide any movement of the top.
Well that is all I have for now, a few screw-up (well hidden) slowed down my progress. Next the leg joinery, aprons and drawer assembly.
Stay tuned to your favorite woodworking site for more developments.
Thanks for looking,
Dave
