I'm interested... but like others, I'm also in Raleigh and not heading towards Charlotte anytime soon.

But please keep me in the loop anyways. Maybe something can be worked out.

Thanks,
-Kevin

Sure Jeff, it's 30' long x 12' wide. I used 8x8 syp 14' long for the post. I got a 20' barjoist from one of my jobs and welded 5' more on each end. I used a 4"W X 14"T I beam from the job as well, for the trolley. I really just built it to my likings. I've picked up logs that I never had any intention of putting that kind of load on the building, when I built it. I used steel roof decking from the job as well. The only money I have tied up in it was for the trolley & chainfall. Unless you wanna count the mill.

Hey Folks, I might be coming into some of that steel roof decking (that I mentioned in an earlier post) in the near future and if I can get rid of it I'll get it, but I don't wanna drag it home and then be stuck with it. So if you want some let me know so I know how much to try to get. This is heavy gauge corrugated steel roof decking. I pretty much have to cut it in ten foot lengths in order to haul it with my little truck and trailer.

Keep us updated as you get it cut up and what you are pricing it at. I don't have any projects for it at the moment, but i do like cherry!

For sure ... cherry is always a favorite. Also have some interest in a piece or two of the decking (if you think it would work well as a cover while I learn to dry lumber!)

Hey WoodWrangler, Thats exactly what I use it for. I've built two portable roof's that I can pick up with my forklift, There built heavy, so they work good as weight to hold your lumber straight & flat. The two I have are only 10 feet long and you cant use them on longer lumber because it will stain the lumber. It has to fully cover the stack, any rain run off will stain the lumber. Other than that, it works great for that. :wink_smil

Hey Randy,
Might be interested in some 8/4 if your cutting any that way. Will it be fresh off the log are is it going to be dried in any way?
Let us know! I to might be interested in some of the metal roofing-What would the price be?

Thanks-Mike

Hey shuneverno1, The cherry is already sawn at 4/4 & 5/4. It is fresh off the log and there is only about 250 to 300 BF, I think most of it is 5" and 6" W. and about 8' L. I'm gonna sell the cherry for $2.00BF. The steel roof decking will be sold at $20.00 per sheet for the first 5 sheets and $15.00 a sheet after that. Most of the roof decking is 3'W X 10'L. I can get it longer but have no way to haul it. This is a pending deal and something might happen that it doesn't go thru. But I can usually get it whenever I need it.

Randy,
Thanks for the info, don't think either option (wood or roof decking) work for my current applications, sorry.

Talk with you later-Mike

I'd love some of the 5/4 but I need it dry in a couple months (got another kid project to do first). Is there some simple way to get it kiln dried?

Hey thrytis, the boards are different lengths but so far most are 6 to 8' L x 5 or 6" W. I didnt get any pix this weekend and I'm outa town now, but I'll post some this weekend. There isn't going to be as much as I thought because there were some real bad spots in a few of the logs.

Well, I didn't get as much as I thought I would, but here's the final yield from the cherry. I don't have the BF figured yet but you get an idea of whats here. 8)
