So I went to this warehouse with millions of dollars worth of exotic wood, stacks of them, 4 pallets high. I talked to the owner and since he knew my friend he had his workers pull down a pallet of figured cherry for me to pick through. He said its not worth it to pick through for just a couple boards but he let it go this time.

He had ebony boards for $75/bf. All sorts of mahogany, stuff from malasia, teak, honduran stuff. I was amazed that theres a place like that just down the road from me in Fuquay!

Heres what I got, totaled 42 bucks:
Theyre 10 feet long each, and a little over 1/2" I think.

And you know what that means DaveO! Let me know when you have some time, im more than willing to share for your milling help!

Andy,
Is that the cherry he's selling at $2 a linear ft?
I bought around 80 feet for my cherry cabinets and other projects.
He has some beautiful pieces of wood in those stacks.
He's better about letting you look through if you go during his slow times.
The wood is around 3/4", and if you plane thin passes you can end up with 5/8" boards.
Out of my 80', 80% was useable.
I do have a lot of small stock left from the trimming process.

His facilities are located in the Jim Tilley Storage on 55 close to 401 in Fuquay.

Wow, he let you look at his stock. He would barely give the time of day when I went in there. And refused to show me his solid lumber stock for insurance reasons. His sheet good inventory is extensive, but no listing of prices or what he has. Several members have said that they have bought from him and were satisfied, I think that he is geared up for large bulk orders :crybaby2:

Dave, I think knowing him or knowing someone that knows him is the key.
I used to keep my boat in storage at the same place 13 years ago when he was a smaller operation. I bought stuff from him back then and have been buying stuff off and on again. He seems to have a great memory of who he's dealt with. I always try to call and ask when the best time for him is.

Yeah it was linear feet but thats fine with me, we dont have to jigsaw it now. Dave, next time we should go together, if you're up this part of town.

Also do you have any free time this week to help me mill this cherry down?

I have free time, but probably not to mill wood :crybaby2: I might be up to it on Wednesday. If that stock is already 1/2" thick what do you need to do to it?
Dave:)

Id need it planed and cleaned up on the edges. Its pretty rough but the pics dont show much of that.

Oh yeah i forgot, funny story. I picked out the wood and went to pay the guy with credit card, but he only takes check and cash. Ok so i went to a nearby gas stations atm. i go to take out 60 bucks but hit one too many numbers, I pulled out 600 bucks from the atm LOL! I was going to yell a dirty word but a cop was behind me.

Pete,
Hey bro I looked at my check book last night, Once everyone was asleep, and SWMBO was in a deep Chloroform slumber I disarmed the alarm, cracked the safe that held the check book and was finally able to see what it looked like. Then the alarm clock went off and I had to get up. lol I feel ya bro.

You need to get that dust collector that is up for sale. Use the argument that the one you have just isn't pulling the fine stuff out of the air and you are worried about your health due to long term exposure.
