had a weird experience with Gennett Lumber...recently i visited their site on Brickyard Road in Fletcher and purchased a 5'x5' sheet of Baltic Birch ply. great guys and great quality wood. for ten bucks, they ripped the plywood to dimensions i provided. overall excellent experience.

couple days ago i called "Gennett Lumber" to find out if they carried cedar and apparently got the flooring company called "Gennett Lumber." the person there gave the impression he'd never heard of the lumber yard.

the lumber yard i visited is literally in the same building as the flooring company.

anybody had this experience?

long story short: does anyone have the actual phone number to "Gennett Lumber?" and its apparently not 828-253-3626.

thank you,
scott

thank you. thats the address i went to when i originally bought plywood from who i thought was Gennett Lumber. if you google map "Gennett Lumber" and look at Street View, Gennett Lumber is in the front of the building and the white doors behind it is where the lumber is. no signs, no Asheville Lumber, just "material pickup" sign. very strange...anyway, thank you. i will call the number you provided....

no, there was no menu, just a guy that answered the phone...
I called after reading this yesterday and there was a menu. Sorry you're having problems. I used to live in the Cane Creek area and remember when they were in Biltmore next to the river. They weren't the easiest place to do business for a hobby woodworker. Good to know they have Baltic Birch.

thanks for your efforts...its gets a bit more strange:
i too called 828-463-4953 yesterday. no menu, but a guy named Phil answered. just "hello?" no company name, etc. i explained the confusion and after asking me "who are you?" and me asking pretty pointed questions like, "is the Gennett or Asheville lumber?" and "is this warehouse physically right behind Gennett lumber/flooring?" etc, he vaguely explained that he (?) owned both businesses and they were "affiliated." and then something about Gennett carried "hard woods" and he (Asheville?) carried softwoods...too weird.

after wading all thru the above, he is to get me a quote on some western cedar 2x3s...we'll see.

it feels a little like the Twilight Zone but i do know that there is an inside warehouse directly behind Gennett Lumber that actually has lumber you can buy. and i did buy some very nice Baltic Birch 5x5 a few weeks back.
