I have an opportunity to pick up a nearly new Freud biscuit joiner at a local pawn shop, it is listed at $89, with no blades. I figure I have some wiggle room, without the cutters.

Anyone have any experience with these tools? Charles? Your input would be appreciated too. What is the availability of replacement parts? Off to do a google search now!

I'd pass on that one. If it's the 100 model (non-tilting fence), you can get that for $90-100 I think at Amazon with free shipping. The 102 model (with tilting fence) is only about $20-30 more if I'm not mistaken. The missing blade would kill the deal.

I have the Dewalt and I'm very happy with that - picked it up as a refurb.

Thanks, I wasn't quick enough to check out which model it was. I wasn't going to offer more than $50-60 bucks as it was, perhaps less after checking on blade prices. It does come with a wrench and the kitbox.

hehehe.... I bet you'll change your mind when you check on the blade prices! Those little suckers are more expensive than they look!

I have a JJ6 Freud it doesn't have an adjustable fence either. I agree with Insom, I would pass since it doesn't have a blade. Which is kind of strange that it doesn't have a blade.

If you can give the model number that is printed on the tool it would be helpful. Blades are universal but replacement parts could be obsolete on the early model joiners. The affected ones would be labeled as JS100. Any that are JS100A or JS102 are more likely to have parts available.

This may make me sound like a cynic, but why is the blade missing? The only time you take one out is to change sizes (for the mini biscuits), or if the blade is broken. If it was removed for a size change, I would think the blade(s) would be included since the kit box was included. If the blade was broken, how was the tool treated during it's life and what kind of condition (and alignment) is it in now? Freud may be good stuff... it's just this particular Freud I'd worry about.
