Boy, I wish you would have had it last week when I was there, I would have brought some back to Chapel Hill. If anyone close by makes the trip to get some, I wouldn't be opposed if they got a few pieces for me,

Stuart, I might be up that way, Franklinton, Sat or Sun. If so I get some to RTP for you next week.

Fred:

I'd love some! Any chance you might be down near the Home Depot on Capital any time soon? If not I think you live up near Sawduster. I could get up that way tomorrow.

Let me know.

Thanks for the offer.

When Freds is taken, you guys come on down! Bring your chainsaws, big trucks or trailers and a Bobcat for loading.
I have been trying for decades to eradicate *&^%$#@ Sweetgum, and am losing the battle. Big, small and between, there is loads of the blasted stuff.

To make it worse, HD is selling the darn things as a 'fast growing/easy care shade tree.

:rotflm: Now, that is funny Ken!
I can't imagine anyone buying a gum tree :help:

Immigrants, I reckon, Roger! Can't have been around here too long or they'd hate the blasted sticky balls and sprouts everywhere like the natives. :)

Edit: The term Immigrant was not intended to be negative in any manner.

Scottl,

I wouldn't mind a log or two. I may be meeting with Woodylarry either Sat or Sun. I'll check with him in the next day or two.

If you want some company and a hand loading some, let me know which day your thinking of heading over

There is a cultivar- Liquidambar styraciflua 'Rotundiloba'
that is fruitless. The leaves don't have the characteristic points but are more rounded. It's actually a great tree for growth rate, toughness and nice fall color. You take away the gumballs and Sweetgum ain't too bad of a tree.

Dave:)
