Free Beech

I sawed some 3' long knotty beech "logs" that an arborist gave me. Stickered them for a few weeks for drying; twisting was so bad I can't use them except for firewood. If NCWW members see possibilities PM me and you can have them. There are about 10 to 12 of them and about 6" wide.

I used to work at a huge hardwood saw mill where we cut thousands of board feet of beech. Beech is a beech to dry, even under ideal conditions in a kiln. Even then some boards will get wanky and just go their own way, All hardwoods have memory in their cellular structure and it effects how they try to shape themselves as they dry.

It was my first time sawing beech and I learned what you already knew. I’m just hoping some NCWWer can make small items such as pen blanks, for example, before it becomes firewood.
