All forstner bits can be resharpened------------you just have to find someone that knows how, you sharpen the bevel of the circumference and the lead points bevel. Do not do any grinding on the outside of the circumference.:)

Re: Forster bits

There is a drill press speed table in the Download Library http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=94

I think that some Forstner bits can be re-sharpened. I would think that the ones without toothed edges could be.

Thanks for the link,

i went out and bought a new bit.
the chart and the bit packaging don't match.
Chart says 250 for hardwood.
the package says 900-1500

it is 1 1/4 freud forstner so which do you go bye?
i am running it about 1000 rpm right know.

But the last one i was running at 3500 rpm.:eusa_doh:

I would go with what the packaging says. The bigger the bit, the slower you want to go.
Interesting, every chart I've looked up has the speed for that size bit at 250 rpm, except on that said 600 rpm.
