I'm of the opinion if you add a motor to that belt and pulley you will find much more pleasure from that lathe.:eusa_danc:rotflm:

Having traveled this path, one piece of advice I will give you is that if you have the slightest interest in general turning, don't set the bar too low. I swore I was just interested in spindles as parts and this would just be another machine. I find myself doing a few bowls as well and really enjoying that. Anyway, get something with reasonably standard fittings, like a #2 MT and 1" 8TPI spindle (there are others that are reasonable choices, but that is the most common on smaller lathes). Don't go below 1/2 HP.
