Great job, I really like the pattern on the top. Reminds me of a box my Grandmother had that we used to dig through when we were kids, anyway congrats.
Yeah she offered 10 bucks and I said well...umm..I guess, so i went inside to get my camera before she took it and when i came back she had a 20, she said it was for the box I made for her a few weeks ago.
Selling the first box may be a good start for you. Word of mouth sometimes goes a long way.
You should let her know it's a special "neighbor" rate and it is okay if she exaggerates the price to any friends or family! Better yet, tell her what you think the box is worth. It'll make her feel she got a great bargain and she may pass the list price along if asked.
Yeah, well the stuff on my site is mostly $15 bucks, which I think is fair for the amount of time and quality I put into it. It is poplar though and with the lacquer and hardware, 15 bucks covers the cost.
Andy, pricing your work is alway a very difficult subject, but don't ever sell yourself short. You boxes may seem like simple work to you, but that is because you know what you are doing and have the tools to do it. You will have to replace those tools someday...possibly sooner than you planned:-D :eusa_doh: Not to mention the cost of electricity, your shop space, you time, etc. So don't just break even, come out ahead. Selling a few pieces to get your name in the market at cost is a marketing expense, and hopefully it will pay off for you.
Dave
That all said I have sold things at way below their value, just to sell something but I did make a profit even if it was only $.50 an hour:BangHead: :eusa_doh:
