One of the other threads made me realize I never did this... probably part of my tendency to hide in the back and avoid people.
Hi everybody, my name is Dan. I've been a member of NCWW for a little while now, but mostly lurk and ask the occasional question. While I still feel far from considering myself a true woodworker, I have been working with wood for most of my life. I learned tools basics and safety in my grandfather's wood shop (it was his hobby and retirement income supplement, along with my grandmother's weaving). I learned a lot of what not to do from my father
. I've always preferred to make my own instead of buying or hiring if possible, but haven't had the time to do so. I'm now trying to make more of that time, and in the process learning what I don't know or really need more practice doing.
Outside of here I work in IT, and spend time cooking (and being active in an online BBQ community that is similar to here).
