There are three shows in Feb. First, the Southern Farm Show at State Fair grounds in Raleigh. Usually held the first or second week. Several manufacturers of band saw mills usually display there (WoodMizer, Baker, Hudson, etc). Second , Carolina's Wood Expo in Greensboro, Thur&Fri- Feb 16&17. Soon I will post free registration codes. This show is more for the commercial user, but they have alot of neat things there. It is a good chance to meet some suppliers that you didn't know existed. Third- The Woodworking Show in Charlotte- Fri, Sat,Sun- Feb 17,18,19. This show has been in March in past, but it and the northern VA show swapped dates this year. See ya at the show!

I am definitely planning to be at the Woodworking Show over in Charlotte again this year. Rumor has it there might be a 15" planer over there with my name on it. I have hit the Woodworking Show for the last 3-4 years but missed it last year while I was deployed. I went to a show up in Greensboro last year but I am not sure if it was the same one junquecol is talking about. It was geared toward the commercial side of the house as he mentioned though so maybe it was the same one. Like junquecol mentioned, it was interesting and I picked up a few business cards and literature for some of the companies there.

I'm looking forward to the Charlotte show. Last year I was hobbling around on a broken (non-healing) hip. It seems like we went but obviously didn't stay long. There's so much to see!

Yep, the Charlotte Woodworking Show is much bigger than the show we had in Hickory. Feb 17-19... looks like I'll be able to make it! :icon_thum

Maybe we can find someone in Charlotte to host a gathering -- I hear Fivestring has plenty of room!!! :p

Bruce, et. al.,

Thanks for the show updates--not that I ever plan more than a few hours ahead. :eusa_thin

The shows would be a great way to see some stuff, meet folks, and brighten up the cold and dreary month of February :p

Why Not,

Sadly the Charlotte woodworking show might be going away. I've gotten the inside word that TWC might be pulling out of the show. If they pull out it won't be long before the show disappears. I hope they don't pull out. I always enjoy going to the Charlotte and Greensboro shows. We'll have to arrange official get togethers at both. Usually we have a Wnet get together at the Greenboro show where we all meet and walk across the street for some good BBQ. It's a lot of fun.

I just checked the vendors list for the Charlotte show. It looks like TWC has already pulled out. :( It will be interesting to see how big the show is this year.

Now don't take this the wrong way, but... I'm going on holiday to New Zealand for a couple of weeks after a trade show in CA and the wood working show falls right in the middle of that time - 'nother time perhaps.

I can't believe TWC went out of business! They were a huge vendor at the Charlotte show, with good products and prices. This year will be the third Charlotte show I've been to. Last year was much smaller than the year before, so I'm hoping they'll step it up this year, and have a good sized show. Maybe we can have a NC Woodworker get-together before the show if enough members are interested? Just a thought.

There was a story on the news this morning that the Charlotte Merchandise Mart has been bought by a church. I just went to Mart's site and it is still listing the show. Anybody know how quickly the church plans on taking over the space and/or if it will affect the location of the show this coming Feb?
