Epoxy technique?

Making a rustic walking stick and needed to epoxy a long narrow crack. Mixed some T88 and put the stick in a vise with the crack upward. Applied some epoxy and left it for an hour or two. Came back and the epoxy had sunk into the crack of course. The mixing cup was nearby with some leftover epoxy that was still buttery. Just for kicks, I applied some of the buttery epoxy over the crack using the popsicle stick. Came back after an hour or so and the crack was filled level. Maybe everyone knows this but I didn’t.

Finished off with a crutch tip and bike handlebar grip. It is headed for Lock Haven, PA for the summer and Mt Pleasant, SC for the winter. She liked my similar walking stick so I made her one.

I lived in Lock Haven for 4 years as an undergrad! Great area to use a walking stick, although in my early 20s I probably would have rejected such a useful device.

I've never used T88 but I was surprised that the epoxy you had left over was still workable after so much time. I guess with an overnight cure time an hour or two really isn't that long.

The epoxy was sorta peanut butter consistency at that point.
