Looking for a good source of dimensional hardwood lumber (namely cherry, maple, hickory, alder) in eastern NC. Preferably 3/4" thick and up, and 12"-14"wide. No jointer or plainer, so would be nice to have something that's ready to go.

I do a lot of CNC carvings, and am tired of Lowe's red oak for every project.

Thanks!

I'm in Greenville as well and the lack of decent hardwood makes things difficult. I don't mind driving to Raleigh, but lumber dealers' weekend hours are limited at best.

Stuart Kent at the NC Furniture School in Ayden stocks some exotics and will order other species: https://ncfurnitureschool.com/lumber-for-sale/

The Murdock sawmill in Bunn (http://www.ncsawmill.com/services-2/) says they do S4S but there's a 100bf minimum order to avoid a $75 setup fee.

Thanks for the replies so far. Wasn't aware of that place in Ayden. Doesn't stock any of the species I need, but if he's willing, it's not far from me at all!

I stock many exotics and custom order domestics and cabinet grade sheet goods with deliveries to my shop twice weekly. Call me, I'll be glad to help.

Scott Brandt of Swansboro is apparently a tree cutter or arborist who offers rough cut slabs and cookies on FB Marketplace. Just yesterday he offered hickory, 36 X 20 X 2.75 for $30 each. I have seen cedar, cypress, water oak, live oak, maple(s), hickory and walnut.
