I have had a DW625 for about 7 or 8 years now. I got it when Goldston lumber in Raleigh was closing down for 40 percent off so it was a good deal. I have used it in my router table until this last year as the variable speed quit working and top speed was the only speed that would work.

DaveO came over the other weekend and he helped me with my DT jig, but I had him use this beast as heavy as it is. One thing that he said might be causing issues was the bit speed so I recognized I needed to get it fixed.

So, this past week and this week I have had a major relapse of woodguy disease. Amazon having 10 percent off last week and $75 off of $300 this week has not helped, but I did break down and order the speed control from Dewalt in Raleigh (out of stock). It came today, and I was pleasantly surprised that I had it replaced in less than 10 minutes. 4 screws total and 3 wires later I again have a 3 HP Variable Speed plunge router. The price on the vs control wasn't too bad IMO. It was $30. That is a whole lot cheaper than when I had to buy one for a Dewalt drill for $60. So if you have one of these, and it goes out, it is a simple process to replace.

Glad I could help you spend some money:lol: That's great that you could repair your router so easily and relatively cheaply. The speed control will help a lot in reducing the aggressiveness that the router chews up wood. Now if you could find something that would help that monster levitate, that's one heavy router:-D
