My 12" Delta CMS is acting up and I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced similar issues. First of all, the blade brake no longer seems to work. The best way I can describe this is when an engine does what we used to call dieseling after being shut off. I have also noticed the saw doesn't seem to have the power it should have and struggles cutting through thicker or harder boards.

I will be contacting Delta CS and see what they say, but if you guys have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

Does it have brushes for the motor??? You might consider checking them. I don't know if they would have any effect on the braking, but they could have something to do with the lack of power.
Hopefully someone with a clue will come along, I'm just shooting at stars here :dontknow:

Dave:)

Sounds to me that the breaking system is draging on the motor itself when you ingage the power. It will be a Delta Help issue.:eusa_thin

Replace the brushes and there's a great chance BOTH problems will be solved.

I've got a DeWalt 705, and brush replacement is a five minute job. Even if they look good (i.e., long and appear to have lots of life left), my experience has been that things ain't what they seem, and new brushes make your saw as well as your teeth happy.

I'll give that a try. The brushes look good, but, as you said, maybe not!
