David Smith founded the BoardSMITH in 2005. A lifelong craftsman, he built his first butcher block in 1993 and refined the design and techniques over the years. David's Obituary from Wright's Funeral Home:

David Woodson Smith, 72, of High Point, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020, at his home.

Born October 17, 1947, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Andrew Hill Smith and the late Virginia Elizabeth Seward Smith. Mr. Smith was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Navy Seabees. He was a retired business owner.

Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Andrew Smith of Lexington; daughter, Erin Smith of Seneca, SC; brothers, Bert Smith and wife Wanda of Charlotte; grandchildren, Walker Lathrop, Ava-Grace Lathrop, Emma Smith, and Leah Smith; and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Debbie Carmichael of High Point.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Whichard Smith in 2019.
