Custom Stephen King Dark Tower Series Bookends
This idea is out of my mind and was made to house the 8 epic books in The Dark Tower Series.
I started with a piece of cedar that was given to me by a friend and milled it down to 3/4 inch thickness on my @craftsman thickness planer.
After that I took measurements of books 1 and 7 and cut everything to size on my @rikon_powertools table saw and added some slight curves on my Rikon Scroll Saw.
I made key hole shaped emblems (doors play a huge factor in the series) on my laser from half inch basswood and cut slots for them on the scroll saw.
I then sanded everything to a smooth finish with @klingsporswoodworkingshop sandpaper.
Everything was glued together with medium grade CA Glue and Activator.
I added some kitchen shelf rubber liner to the bottoms with spray adhesive for grips and after everything was dry I gave everything several coats of @rustoleum clear gloss for a finish.
These came out better than I had planned and is a great way to display an epic book series by the master of horror.
I finished rereading the series the first week in August and it was my first read through since 2012 when the additional 8th book came out. Man what an outstanding journey!
