I just recently got a request for a crackle finish on a writing arm chair. I have seen where the general process is paint over wet glue IIRC.

Has anyone done this type of finish? What type paint/glue?

I believe the combination I remember reading about was milk paint over hide glue. :eusa_thin

Would love to hear opinions from this group.

I believe that this is available as a 2 component kit from most craft stores. My aunt finished a dresser with a crackle finish. She said that it was really easy.

disclaimer; i have never done this

the trickiest part is the glue has to be equaly "wet" over the entier piece. the amount of pre drying determins the size of the "cracks"

i think i heard that just plain white glue is used, make sure that is is a type that will dry clear or it will show in the cracks

I tried the white glue with latex paint without much sucess. I couldn't get the paint to cover the wet glue. The web site that I found this on said to dilute the glue with water and as I recall, it was about half.
